First Day of Spring & The 4th Step
Spring cleaning—In and Out
The first day of Spring 2018 was just yesterday, March 20. What better time is there to consider taking moral inventory of yourself? The 4th step in the twelve step program is a step for the Spring.
The sun is shining brighter and longer, the birds are chirping, and it feels like the perfect time for a fresh start. Spring cleaning is afoot! While everyone clears out their garages and organizes their closets, they might also look inward.
Step Four: Moral Inventory
The fourth step reads: “made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves.”
Cleaning up the mess around us can be difficult, but coming clean about the mess within is much harder. An important part of recovery from alcoholism and addiction is being honest with yourself. When we fearlessly examine our actions, beliefs, and thoughts, admitting our faults, we can begin to improve.
First Day of Spring—
Make it a Sober Day
I can’t think of a better way to welcome in the renewal of Spring than to renew the self. A willingness to be and do better, and a little help, is all it takes to find recovery from alcoholism and addiction.
Some people don’t believe in the twelve step program, but I am here to say otherwise. Even if you aren’t in recovery from addiction, the twelve steps inspire powerful awareness, honesty, and integrity in a person’s life.
It takes bravery and heart to do this kind of work. If you are interested in learning more about the steps or recovery from addiction, call (877) 670-8451.
